Update

The Yanks just left the Windy City and the Chicago White Sox ran into a nor’easter called Yankees pitching. I was impressed. CC the first night and Phil Hughes with a great performance night two, an offensive blow out Wednesday night with 18 runs and another 5-hit night by Jeter, and Thursday, a determined gritty performance by Ivan Nova, still under 25 years old. Ivan Nova and Phil Hughes raised their hands together to be mainstays of the ever surprising and impressive Yankees starting 6!!!!

The Yanks couldn’t be playing any better than they are now as the enter Beantown this weekend tied with the Red Sox for first place. Ahhh baseball in August. The start of the stretch run and the Bombers and the Bosox have the baseball world buzzing. I love it, and as Mr. Cromartie of the Jets says, “can’t wait”

Tune in to YES.

Trenton/Bronx Road Trip/Phil Hughes

Good day all and welcome to “Conversations at Reggie’s Garage.”

Yankees fans had a great day yesterday, June 29. I was in Trenton, NJ at the AA game for a noon start to see Phil Hughes throwing 88 pitches during his 3rd rehab start. He looked great pitching into the 7th inning. He gave up 3 hits and consistently touched 93 mph. I believe he may have another start before he’s recalled to the big club.

With more good news, later that day, I traveled back to the Bronx to see the Yanks beat the Brewers for the 2nd day in a row, 5-2. A.J. Burnett pitched great as he battled through the 7th inning to record his 8th victory of the season.

Continuing a great season, David Robertson pitched the 8th before the “Great One” put the Brewers to sleep in the 9th for his 21st save of 2011.

Pitching again is the name of the game and in both towns the Yanks got the performances needed to chase another championship in 2011.

The team is playing great at this time. The offense, defense and pitching is clicking at this point.

Your friend,

Mr. October
