Wow, what a performance. When your ace performs like Big Daddy did yesterday, it sure makes everybody look good: from the owner for signing him to the GM for getting him on the team to the manager, the pitching coach and all of us associated with the team.
Leaders are needed to show the way to success and they make our jobs as staff, coaches, managers, fans and others relaxing. Ahhh, what a relief. We can sit back and enjoy as the press pours on the temporary plaudits, but it sure is a pleasure to sit back and watch someone that is so outstanding in their field. Our pitching staff will be better because Big Daddy takes the pressure off and shows all the path of success.
It takes the pressure off of our offense, defense, bullpen, and makes it easier for the next starter. As CC says, he was just trying to do his job and his part. I watched him warm up in the bullpen and really enjoyed the display of tremendous command of his pitches. Or simply put, such great control. As he warmed up in the bullpen, Big Daddy could have hit a 4×6 paperback book with five or every six pitches. Big Daddy, I salute you for a wonderful performance that I could appreciate even after 45 years of big league experience.
To Doc Halladay, Verlander, Johnson, Lincecum, Lee, Beckett and a few others, I tip my cap to excellence. I’m just glad CC, Big Daddy, is a Yankee.
